Line 1 runs from Mudu through Shishan and the old city to the east of the industrial park. Mudu station is not the entrance to Mudu Ancient Town; compare access from Lingyanshan on Line 5.

01Suzhou Museum West
History beside Shishan Hill
Explore regional history and Suzhou craftsmanship at the Shishan site, separate from the main museum beside the Humble Administrator's Garden.
From Shizishan, head to the West Museum at 399 Changjiang Road. The main museum on Dongbei Street is a separate site.

Garden of Harmony
A garden pause in the city centre
Explore ponds, corridors and rockeries in a central-city classical garden.
From Leqiao, head to the Yiyuan entrance on Renmin Road. Combine the garden with a short city-centre stroll if you wish.

03Pingjiang Road
Follow the canal lanes
Walk beside the canal past bridges, stone-paved lanes and traditional homes.
From Xiangmen, approach the southern end of Pingjiang Road. The neighbourhood extends north; choose your finishing point before walking.

04Jinji Lake
Let the lake set the pace
Enjoy modern Suzhou's skyline from the lakeshore. Choose a section of the extensive waterfront before setting out.
From Culture and Expo Center, head towards the arts centre and lakeside paths. Choose one section rather than planning to circle the whole lake.

MAKE A DAY OF IT
A few stops. A good day out.
Canal lanes first, lake views later.
Start with a small central garden, walk part of Pingjiang Road, then spend the afternoon by the lake. Omit the lake if you prefer longer in the old city.

Take time for Yiyuan’s halls and courtyard views.

Pingjiang Road
Walk part of Pingjiang Road, leaving time for tea or a meal before returning to Xiangmen.
