Effective October 15, 2025, Dongguan Metro "Hongfu Road Station" has been officially renamed to "Civic Center Station". Currently, there are a total of 6 "Civic Center" stations nationwide.
This renaming is primarily to pave the way for the opening of Line 1. Civic Center Station is set to become an interchange station between Line 1 and Line 2. Since Line 1 runs mainly along Hongfu Road, continuing to use the name "Hongfu Road Station" would lack specific directionality for stations along the line. Therefore, the nearby landmark "Dongguan Civic Service Center" was chosen as the new station name.
In the future, Guangzhou Metro Line 28 (Foshan-Guangzhou-Dongguan Intercity) will also extend to this location, making this station the most core hub in the Dongguan Metro network.
