Jinan Metro Lines 4, 6, and 8 Opening Promo

Jinan Metro Line 4, Line 8, and the East Section of Line 6 officially commenced operations at 10:15 on Saturday, December 27. With this opening, Jinan Metro's operational mileage has doubled, reaching approximately 182.4 kilometers with a total of 6 lines and 112 stations.

Additionally, Jinan SkyShuttle Line 1 and the Jiyang Line Tram also opened this month. The current overview of the Jinan rail transit network is shown below:

Line 4: East-West Backbone Line

Line 4 is a backbone line running east-west, connecting key areas such as the West Railway Station, CBD, Olympic Sports Center, and Tangye. The line is 40.3 km long with 33 stations, utilizing 6-car Type A trains.

Line 8: Connecting the Main City and Zhangqiu

Line 8 extends from Xingcun Overpass East Station at the eastern end of Line 4, connecting the main city with Zhangqiu District. It passes through the Free Trade Zone, Qilu Science and Technology Corridor, and Zhangqiu University Town. The line is 25.3 km long with 14 stations and uses the same system as Line 4.

Notably, Line 8 allows for through-operation with Line 4:

  • 6:00 - 20:00: Through-operation mode.
  • 20:00 until end of service: Independent operation mode.

Line 6 East Section: Connecting Railway Hubs

Line 6 is also an east-west backbone line, similar in function to Line 2 and Line 4, primarily connecting three major railway hubs: Jinan West, Jinan Station, and Jinan East. The section opening this time is the East Section (Shandong University Station to Liangwang Station), which is 19.5 km long with 17 stations, utilizing 6-car Type A trains.
